Housing varies according to the location(s) of your course. In general: you will always be housed in a student residence, but depending on the system of student housing in the different cities where our courses take place, and the availability of student rooms in the summer, the type of housing will vary. Below you will find a general description of the type of housing available per city. Please note that the exact location where you will be housed in the cities of Utrecht, Berlin and Milan will be known only shortly before or upon your arrival.

Meals

Student cafeterias are mostly closed during summer, but in your residence kitchen you can find everything you need to cook a nice meal and store some groceries. You should count on spending approximately €15-20 per day (three meals, snacks and coffee/tea or other refreshments).

Housing procedure

IMG_7418Summer School Italy generally tries to house students from one course in the same accommodation. Students from other courses might be housed together in the same building as well, which gives you the great opportunity to meet international students from other disciplines.

There are no standard combinations of specific courses and student accommodations. The housing of students of each course depends on the duration of the course and its number of participants. You won’t know which exact residence you will be staying in, until the day of arrival.

Check in and check out

The availability of housing varies slightly per city. Generally, housing is provided from the weekend before the course starts, until 10 AM on the last Friday of the course. In case your course ends on a Thursday, your lodging is still available until the Friday. Then it is not possible to stay any longer. In some cities, your accommodation may be available until the Saturday after the last day of your course programme. You will of course receive this specific information upon registering for the course of your choice.

Please note that for all special tracks and for a combination of consecutive courses housing is of course provided for the entire duration of your course(s).

Upon arrival, you can pick up your room key and further instructions at the Summer School Italy Office in the city where your course takes place or starts. The office is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00h until 18:00h.

Of course you will receive detailed information on your accommodation, the Summer School Italy Office and on how to get there, after your registration for the course of your choice is finalized.
